Delhi, 23 January (H.S.): INS Sarvekshak has completed the final phase of the hydrographic survey of Mauritius. It covers an extensive area of more than 25,000 square nautical miles. Freshly prepared marine charts and survey equipment related to the survey have been handed over to the President of Mauritius. The creation of new marine charts will help Mauritius in developing its marine infrastructure, resource management and coastal development plan.
The Ministry of Defense had sent INS Sarvekshak for hydrographic survey in Mauritius. The survey vessel's visit began on 29 December with a joint coordination meeting held on the ship in Port Louie. Indian Navy's Hydrographic Survey Ship INS Sarvekshak has added another milestone to the robust maritime partnership between the two nations by successfully completing the first phase of Joint Hydrographic Survey in Mauritius. Commissioner of Police R Surajebali of Mauritius Police Force visited the ship and was briefed on the survey work. The Commanding Officer of INS Sarvekshak discussed the broad objectives with the Indian High Commissioner to Mauritius Anurag Shrivastava.
During a ceremony held on board the ship, High Commissioner Shrivastava formally handed over the fair sheets of the Hydrographic Survey, as well as freshly prepared nautical charts and survey equipment, to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Dharam Bir Gokhool. The creation of the new nautical charts will help Mauritius in developing its maritime infrastructure, resource management and coastal development plan. This important event reflects the enduring partnership between India and Mauritius in promoting maritime development and regional cooperation.
Earlier, the ship conducted a joint India-Mauritius Yoga session on 20 January. The yoga session was attended by the crew of the ship, National Coast Guard, Mauritius and Indira Gandhi Indian Cultural Centre (IGCIC) staff. Captain Tribhuvan Singh, Commanding Officer of INS Sarvekshak met Mauritius Housing and Land Minister Shakil Ahmed Yusuf Abdul Razak Mohammed and discussed the survey work of the Indian Navy. This survey is expected to enhance sailing safety in Mauritius and ensure better marine infrastructure development.
