New Delhi, 10 January (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu said, Our country is moving towards a developed India by the year 2047. This national mission requires the active and enthusiastic participation of every Indian, including those living abroad. The Indian diaspora is an integral part of this vision. Their global presence gives them a unique perspective and their achievements put them in a position to make significant contributions to the achievement of a developed India.
President Murmu on Friday addressed the concluding session of the three-day 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and presented the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards. On this occasion, the President said that the Indian diaspora represents the best of the country. They have taken with them not only the knowledge and skills acquired in this sacred land, but they have also taken with them the values and ethos that have been the foundation of our civilization for millennia.
The President congratulated all the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman winners. In her address, she said that Indian diaspora has left its mark in every field, be it technology, medicine, arts or entrepreneurship. The world acknowledges and respects this. The success stories of the NRIs are a matter of pride for India. They inspire millions of people across the world to strive for excellence. She also congratulated President Christine Kangaloo of Trinidad and Tobago and said that her outstanding contribution in leading her country with special focus on women and Indian diaspora has set a high standard on the world stage.
The President expressed happiness that Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has now become more than an event. Murmu said that this platform is working to get ideas, establish collaborations and strengthen the relationship between India and the NRIs. Referring to India's eternal philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the President said that this approach meets our needs and also contributes to global welfare. We want to be a nation that balances economic progress with social justice and environmental management. This will ensure a bright future for the generations to come.
She said the Indian diaspora will also play a key role in achieving this vision.
The President said, While we celebrate the achievements of our overseas Indian family, we also have to look to the future with hope and determination. Together, we can build a nation that stands strong on the global stage and becomes a beacon of light for the world.
