Guwahati, 26 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has congratulated the people of Assam for Charaideo Maidam being recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Chief Minister said through social media, Today will be a memorable day for Assam. Our Charaideo Maidam has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, fulfilling the long-awaited expectations. Today will be recorded as a remarkable day in the pages of history. This is a big achievement for Assam. Congratulations to all of you on this auspicious occasion.

He said, Maidam of Charaideo is a symbol of deep spiritual faith, rich heritage and architecture and craftsmanship of the Tai-Ahom people of Assam. Today's achievement is that Charaideo Maidam has been recognized as a World Heritage Site in the context of Assam after Kaziranga and Manas National Park. Charaideo Maidam is the only one in the Northeast to be recognized as a cultural heritage site.

The Chief Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts are remarkable in giving this great achievement to our magnificent Charaideo Maidam. On behalf of the people of Assam, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister. I once again congratulate the people of Assam from the bottom of my heart.
