307 PS level Nagrik committees to be constituted: CM
राज्य में गठित होने जा रही 307 थाना स्तरीय नागरिक समितियों से संबद्ध नोटिफिकेशन।


Guwahati, 7 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that with the aim of making the police more citizen centric, the government will form (TLNC) Thana Level Nagrik Committee in all 307 police station areas of the state. The Chief Minister said that in this regard, a notification has been issued by the Home Department of the Government of Assam today. This notification has been issued in the light of sub-section 5 of section 11 of the Assam Police Act 2007. Police station Level Nagrik committee (TLNC) will be formed with the aim of providing appropriate services to the public on time.

According to the notification, the Home Department of the state government will make a social worker its president, who has no criminal record. At the same time, local MLA, Circle Officer, CDPO etc. will be its members. The concerned police station in-charge will be the member secretary of these committees. The member secretary and the president together will make three enlightened and clean image persons of the local society its members. The outline of these committees has been described in detail in the information issued. It is worth mentioning that such Nagrik committees were formed across the state in 2000 during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. These committees were made inactive during the later Tarun Gogoi government.
