- Councillors of Banaras Municipal Corporation who came to visit Northeast were felicitated at Raj Bhavan

Guwahati, 16 September (HS): Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has said that once again the culture of India is resonating in the world. Cooperation from all countrymen is always expected in the renaissance of our culture. Governor Acharya was addressing the felicitation ceremony organized for the councillors of Banaras Municipal Corporation who came from Kashi at Raj Bhavan. It is worth mentioning that a 71-member team of councillors led by the Mayor of Banaras Municipal Corporation Narsingh Das has set out on a tour of Northeast. For this purpose, this team reached Assam Raj Bhavan. A felicitation ceremony was organized to welcome this visiting team. Welcoming the councillors present at the ceremony, Governor Acharya said that all of you have come from Kashi, the cultural capital of the world, Kashi, the capital of all knowledge and Kashi of the Prime Minister. He said that Kashi and Assam have many specialties and similarities. Kashi is the city of Baba Vishwanath, Kaal Bhairav, Mata Annapurna, while Assam is also the holy land of Shaktipeeth Maa Kamakhya, Umanand Bhairav. Assam is the land of the great sant Srimanta Shankardev. The cool water stream of Mahabahu Brahmaputra flows here. Assam is the main center of the Northeast. This state is covered with natural beauty. Like Kashi, Assam is also a 'mini India'. People from Bihar, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and various states live here. He said that the unity in diversity which is the specialty of our country is also seen in Assam.

Governor Acharya said that our illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that if you have seen the whole country and have not seen the states of the Northeast, then you have not seen the whole of India. He said that all of you councillors have come to Assam today and then when you visit other states of the Northeast, you will be proud that you have seen the whole of India.

Addressing the councillors, the Governor said that all of you represent the entire Kashi. All of you are the identity of Kashi. Kashi exists because of you and you are from Kashi. You live on the banks of the Ganga, when you go to Prayagraj, you get a glimpse of Sangam, Yamuna and Saraswati. Today all of you are sitting near the banks of the Brahmaputra and I am confident that all of you are able to connect Kashi with Assam. Acharya said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing in every field on the world stage. India's art and culture is also resonating in the world. Therefore, it is our responsibility to take our country's identity forward by becoming a partner in the renaissance of India's culture.

A colourful cultural programme was organised in this felicitation ceremony, in which a unique glimpse of Assam's art and culture was presented. In this programme, local artists mesmerized the audience by presenting Bihu dance, Sattriya dance and Bagurumba dance.
