A Trinamool leader's body was found hanging from a noose in a hotel in Mandarmani of East Medinipur district on Saturday.

According to police sources, the deceased's name was Abul Nasar. He was the husband of the Deputy Pradhan of Amdanga Gram Panchayat. According to hotel sources, the Trinamool leader had reached the hotel with four people including his female friend. One night later, his body was found hanging from a noose.

The police have arrested the Trinamool leader's female friend in connection with the incident and started interrogation.

The hotel officials in Mandarmani informed the family about Abul's death on Saturday morning. According to hotel officials, Abul Nasar reached the hotel in Mandarmani on Friday with two women and a young man. That evening everyone saw a woman leaving the hotel. Later the hotel staff broke the door of the room and entered inside. The hotel workers found the Deputy Pradhan's husband hanging from the noose. On information, the Mandarmani coastal police reached the spot. The body has been recovered and sent to Kanthi Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem. According to police sources, one of the two women accompanying the Trinamool leader is his girlfriend. The police have arrested the woman. It is not clear whether the Trinamool leader was murdered or committed suicide. Whether there is any political conspiracy behind this death is also a matter of investigation. According to an acquaintance of the deceased, Abul Naser was a businessman by profession. He left home in the name of going to collect the loan amount. He claimed that there is a business dispute behind this death. However, the acquaintance of the Trinamool leader claimed that he did not know anything about the girlfriend.
