Bhubaneswar, , 7 September (H.S.)The Odisha Vigilance department intercepted the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Nuapada and seized Rs 1.32 lakhs, suspected to be ill-gotten cash, during a surprise operation.
“Acting on reliable information, a team from Odisha Vigilance intercepted Sri Bijay Kumar Behuria, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Nuapada, near Khordha Hospital Square today. He was traveling from Nuapada to Bhubaneswar in a private vehicle (OD-33-AC-2030) when he was stopped. Upon search, Rs 1.32 lakhs in cash, suspected to be ill-gotten and collected as bribes from various sources, was found in his possession. As Behuria failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, the cash was seized, along with the vehicle, for further investigation. ” read a press release issued by Vigilance department.
Odisha Vigilance has launched a comprehensive investigation, searching five locations linked to him from a Disproportionate Assets perspective. Simultaneously, Behuria is being thoroughly examined to uncover the source of the funds, with a detailed report to follow.
