Murshidabad, 26 July (H.S.):

On Thursday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey stood up in Parliament and demanded to form a Union Territory by combining five districts of Bengal and Bihar. Murshidabad MLA Gauri Shankar Ghosh has now joined Nishikant Dubey. Gauri Shankar Ghosh said on Friday, The way Bangladeshi infiltration is taking place in Murshidabad district, it will hamper national security. In the year 2022, the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration was raised to the Home Ministry.

For the security of the country, the BJP MLA had raised the demand to make Murshidabad, Malda and some districts of Jharkhand a Union Territory. He had also written a letter to the Home Ministry and the Governor in 2022 regarding that demand. The BJP MLA said that he has faith and he is confident that in the coming days the Home Ministry will accept that demand.

However, the Trinamool Congress has expressed displeasure over the demand of the BJP MLA. Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly said that she will not allow the division of Bengal at any cost.
