Huge catch of arms and ammunition seized in Manipur


Imphal, 26 June (HS): An intensive operation is being conducted by the security forces in Manipur. The recovery of arms and ammunition is continuing in these operations. In this connection, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from different places of the state in a joint security forces operation.

Manipur Police on Wednesday said that search operations and area dominance were carried out by the security forces in the border and sensitive areas of the hill and valley districts. During this, one AK-47 rifle with 02 magazines, one country made .22 rifle with magazine, 14 live rounds of ammunition, four SBBL guns, one Sig-Sauer pistol with one magazine, three IDs, one suspected ID case box, one shot gun belt, one sling, three TAC phones with battery, five BPJs, one combat dress, one combat T-shirt, one sleeping bag, one black carry bag, four empty pipes, one black pipe, 100 grams of suspected gun powder were recovered from Maozang in Tengnoupal district.

At the same time, during another search operation, one bullet proof jacket, three hand grenades (made in India), nine live rounds and one locally made Pompey were recovered from the hill range of Purum Khullen village in Kakching district.

During another search operation, one 5.56 HK assault rifle and magazine, one 7.62 rifle, one carbine machine gun and magazine, three .32 pistols and magazines, three lethal grenades, two handheld radio sets, three live rounds of ammunition, one belt with tactical pouch were recovered from between Mongjarong Khunou and Old Nungnang village in Noni district.

Apart from these, two pumps with 8 rounds and one single barrel were recovered from the areas of Lailoifai village, Dongjang village and Hengken village in Churachandpur district during the search operation. Security forces are conducting raids across the state.
