Guwahati, June 16 (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the permanent office of the District Commissioner and Police Commissioner of Guwahati Metro will be operational by August 15, next year. The Chief Minister was talking to reporters here on Sunday after inspecting the Police Commissioner's office under construction at Khanapara.

The Chief Minister said that the eight-storey Police Commissioner's office under construction at a cost of ₹95 crore will be completed within a year. After its completion, all the police offices including the traffic branch of Guwahati Police will come together in this building. The Chief Minister said that the Police Commissioner''s office was earlier located on the banks of Brahmaputra in Pan Bazar.

Due to the construction of a park there, the Police Commissioner''s office is currently being run in the Lower Assam Commissioner''s Office located in Pan Bazar. He said that this office being built in one lakh 50 thousand square feet will be equipped with every facility. Adequate arrangements are also being made for parking of vehicles within this complex.

The Chief Minister said that a while ago he arrived after inspecting the Guwahati DC office building under construction in Rupnagar of the capital. He said that after the permanent office of Guwahati DC and Police Commissioner is ready, the problem of congestion in Guwahati will also be reduced to a great extent. During this, the Chief Minister also answered other questions of the journalists.
