
Guwahati, 14 June (HS): The operation of the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police achieved great success. Acting on a tip-off, the STF successfully intercepted a vehicle at the Sonapur toll gate on National Highway No. 27 on Friday morning.
Intelligence revealed that a Manipur-based banned organization was attempting to procure equipment potentially for violent activities. The operation was launched based on credible information about unauthorized transportation of drones and related equipment.
The team tracked the vehicle from six miles and later stopped it. On inspection, the STF team apprehended a youth from Manipur, identified as Khaigaulen Kipgen (27), a resident of Gamangai village under Sapormena police station in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
He was traveling with two minors. 10 TB 30 Intelligent Flight Batteries used in drones, ₹3.4 lakh cash, four pairs of shoes and a mobile handset were recovered from the vehicle. STF is completing the necessary formalities and further investigation is going on.
