Lok Sabha Speaker pays homage to Tagore on his Jayanti

New Delhi, 08 May (HS): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday remembered the virtues of Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary. He paid homage in the Constitution House. The Lok Sabha Speaker has shared a pictorial post regarding this on his X handle.

It is noteworthy that Gurudev Tagore's compositions became the national anthems of two countries. Among these, 'Jana Gana Mana' became the national anthem of India and 'Amar Sonar Bangla' became the national anthem of Bangladesh.

Tagore wrote many works including poems, short stories and novels which are popular. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Gitanjali in 1913. He was the first non-European and the first lyricist to achieve this.
