Jaunpur, 2 May (HS): The body of a youth was found trapped in the weeds growing in the canal water on Thursday morning near the culvert under Khutahan police station. Police reached the spot after receiving information and with the help of villagers; the body was taken out of the water. Despite much effort, the deceased could not be identified. Police have taken possession of the body and have started necessary action. Some shepherds were grazing goats today near the canal culvert of Nagwan village.

Their eyes fell on the body lying among the grass growing in the canal water. They made noise and informed the police. The police reached the spot after getting the information and got the body taken out. Looking at the body, it is being speculated that the incident might have taken place on Wednesday night.

The age of the deceased is said to be around 25 years. He is wearing black pants and dark blue shirt. Raksha sutra is tied on the right hand. There were no injury marks visible anywhere on his body. Khutahan police station in-charge Sanjay Verma said that the deceased could not be identified. His clothes and other belongings have been kept safe for identification. The body is being sent for post-mortem. The matter will become clear only after identification and post mortem report comes.
