Voting on 5 LS seats in Assam on Friday


Guwahati, 25 April (HS): In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, all preparations have been completed for the voting to be held on 5 seats of Assam on Friday. A total of 61 candidates are in the fray in this phase.

On Thursday, all the necessary items including EVM machines for the polling centers of all these areas were given to the polling personnel and sent to the polling centers.

The second phase of voting will be held on Friday from 7 am to 5 pm in five Lok Sabha constituencies Nagaon, Karimganj, Diphu, Silchar and Darrang-Udalguri.

The total number of voters in Darrang-Udalguri is 21,87,160. It has total 11 assembly constituencies (Rangiya, Kamalpur, Tamulpur, Goreshwar, Bhergaon, Udalguri, Majbat, Tangla, Sipajhar, Mangaldai and Dalgaon).

The total number of candidates on this seat is 11. Among them Dilip Shaikia, BJP, Durgadas Bodo, BPF, Madhav Rajbanshi, Congress etc. are the prominent.

At the same time, the total number of voters in Diphu area is 8,93,056. There are six assembly constituencies under it (Bokajan (ST), Hawraghat, Diphu, Rangkhang, Amri and Haflong).

The total number of candidates here is five. These include Amarsingh Tishu – BJP, Jairam Engleng – Congress, Jutson Bey – Autonomous State Demand Committee, John Bernard Sangma – Gana Suraksha Party and JI Kathar – Independent.

Whereas, the total number of voters in Karimganj is 14,12,239. The number of assembly constituencies in this is seven. These include North Karimganj, South Karimganj, Patharkandi, Ramakrishna Nagar, Hailakandi district, Hailakandi and Algapur-Katlicherra. The total number of candidates here is- 24. Among which Kripanath Malla- BJP, Shahabul Islam Choudhary- AIUDF, Hafiz Rajid Ahmed Choudhary- Congress etc. are prominent.

The total number of voters in Silchar Lok Sabha constituency is 13,61,496. There are 7 assembly constituencies Silchar, Sonai, Dhalai (SC), Udarbandh, Lakshipur, Barkhola and Katigara. The total number of candidates here is eight. In which Parimal Shuklabaidya, BJP, Surya Kant Sarkar, Congress, Prabhas Chandra Sarkar, Socialist Unity Center of India, Birendra Kumar Das, Bengali Navnirman Samiti, Rajiv Das, Bahujan Mahaparty, Radheshyam Biswas, Trinamool Congress, Anant Mohan Roy, Indipendent and Raju Das, Independent are included.

Apart from these, the total number of voters in Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency is 18,04,471.

The assembly constituencies here include Jagiroad, Lahrighat, Morigaon, Dhing, Rupihat, Samguri, Nagaon-Batdraba and Raha Constituency (SC). The total number of candidates here is 13. In which Aminul Islam, AIUDF, Pradyut Bordoloi, Congress, Suresh Bora, BJP, Anupam Barua, Jaiprakash Janata Dal, Saiful Islam Choudhary, Assam Jan Morcha, Rabbul Haq, National Ulema Council, Shantanu Murkhajee, Bharatiya Gana Parishad, Abu Rehan Uddin, Independent , Abu Chama- Independent, Shamsul Alam- Independent, Nikhil Dekarja- Independent, Khatra Vanjan Sarkar- Independent and Shikha Sharma- Independent.
