Hooghly, 25 April (HS): Trinamool Congress candidate from Serampore Lok Sabha seat Kalyan Banerjee on Thursday made local TMC MLA and Tollywood actor Kanchan Malik get down from his open jeep in Konnagar Navagram area under Uttarpara assembly.

Kalyan Banerjee said, ''I had told you a day before not to come to the village, women are reacting.'' The Trinamool candidate also refused to let the Trinamool MLA join his campaign.

Banerjee had gone out for campaigning and public relations in Konnagar Navagram Panchayat area on Thursday. The campaign started in front of the Trinamool Party office located on Konnagar Station Road. There, MLA Kanchan Malik was seen with Kalyan Banerjee in an open jeep. But Kalyan Banerjee asked him to get down, after which the MLA got down from Kalyan Banerjee''s jeep.

Reacting to the incident, Kalyan Banerjee said, ''I don''t know whether he is sad or not. Earlier, I had taken him out for campaigning. When he was campaigning with me, the women of the village were reacting a lot. I had already told him not to go to the village.”

Kalyan Banerjee questioned, ''Why is he campaigning only with me? He is an MLA. He can campaign on his own too. But he is not doing so. I have to contest the election. You have to understand what is in people''s mind. I am not for particular people. I am for everyone. Therefore, I cannot hurt people for the happiness of a particular person.

Kanchan Mallick could not be contacted over phone. But according to Trinamool sources, he had returned to Kolkata.

Notably, after divorce from Pinky Banerjee, actor-MLA Kanchan Mallick married Srimayee Chattoraj. This was the third marriage of the Trinamool MLA. After that, the Trinamool MLA had to face a lot of criticism.
