Hooghly, 25 April (HS): Trinamool Congress candidate from Serampore Lok Sabha seat Kalyan Banerjee on Thursday morning made Uttarpara MLA Kanchan Malik get down from his jeep in Konnagar Navagram area during his campaign. Initially, Trinamool MLA Kanchan Malik avoided making a statement on this incident. But on Thursday afternoon, the Trinamool MLA told the media, ''When I got on the jeep, he (Kalyan Banerjee) said, ''Don''t go to the village for campaigning. When villagers see you, they react. Let me vote. They told me this and I got off the vehicle.''

The Trinamool MLA further said, ''I don''t know what his election strategy is. I had gone to campaign for my party''s Lok Sabha candidate. They asked me to get off the vehicle and I got off.''

Taking a dig at the matter, Kabir Shankar Bose, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Serampore Lok Sabha seat, said, Today I came to know through the media that in Uttarpara Navagram, Kalyan Banerjee got the MLA Kanchan Malik off his campaign vehicle. We are noticing again and again how he treats Trinamool Congress workers. Civil war and factional conflict has started within the Trinamool Congress. Kalyan Banerjee''s posters are being torn by Trinamool Congress people themselves.

Recently, a woman Trinamool leader from Uttarpara had made such a claim. There would not be a single Trinamool worker who has not been a victim of Kalyan Banerjee''s misbehavior. I would like to appeal to the people that the party whose leaders do not respect their workers, how will they respect the public, the public''s feelings and their votes. Therefore, people should trust the public''s prime servant Narendra Modi and vote in his favour.
