Hooghly, 21 April (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Hooghly Lok Sabha seat Locket Chatterjee held a press conference at BJP''s Hooghly office on Sunday afternoon and alleged that Trinamool Congress has started the money game before the elections in Singur and Haripal areas of Hooghly district. Locket said that Trinamool Congress is going door to door and distributing purses among women voters to influence them. The purse can contain anything. Locket said that Trinamool Congress is trying to influence women voters before the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP candidate termed the wall paintings of the TMC regarding Mamata Banerjee''s ambitious Laxmi Bhandar scheme(where ₹1000 is given to women of the state) as blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct. She said, ''''apart from this, the Trinamool Congress is also violating the model code of conduct by distributing purses among women. The Bharatiya Janata Party has already brought the whole matter to the notice of the election commission. If needed, the bjp will take the matter to Delhi.''''

Reacting to the matter, TMC''s Hooghly Serampore organizational district president Arindam Guin rejected the allegations of the BJP candidate and told Hindusthan Samachar that the allegations of the BJP are baseless. If the BJP candidate has courage, then she should give proof of the allegations made. The local leadership of TMC claimed that Locket Chatterjee is afraid of defeat. That is why she is making such baseless allegations against the Trinamool Congress.
