Imphal, 26 December (HS): Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has appealed to the families of newly recruited police personnel not to interfere in the transfers and postings of police personnel.

The Chief Minister said that the youth and newly recruited personnel should be given an opportunity to serve the state and the country on the criteria laid down in the transfer posting policy of the government. He stressed the need to maintain the integrity and transparency of the police department.

The Chief Minister was talking to reporters while inspecting the Manipur Police Firing Range and the temporary barracks being built there at Vyri Pangei in Imphal on Thursday.

During the inspection, he said that recently 1946 newly recruited policemen have passed the training for the 10th and 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) from Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Assam.

The Chief Minister said that the 10th and 11th IRBs were specially created for highway security. The barracks have been constructed keeping in view the present situation in the state and the discipline shown by the newly recruited personnel.

He said that around 800 to 1000 newly recruited personnel will be deployed in the temporary barracks where they will receive special commando training and form special teams to deal with the law and order situation in the state.
