Fire destroyed fifty bighas of wheat crop


Kanpur, 19 April (HS): A massive fire suddenly broke out in the wheat crop of Narsingh Devpurwa village of Sachendi police station area, due to which fifty bighas of the crop was burnt to ashes. On receiving information, the fire was brought under control with the help of fire brigade, police personnel and villagers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police West Vijay Dhull said that a wheat crop suddenly caught fire on Friday afternoon in Harsinghdevpur village of Sachendi police station area. On receiving information, fire brigade and police reached the spot and the fire was brought under control with the help of villagers. Prima facie the cause of the fire is being said to be short circuit. The crops of many farmers were burnt to ashes due to the fire. The regional accountant has been called to the spot to find out how much damage was caused by the fire. After investigation, further legal action will be taken.

People are citing short circuit in the electrical wires as the cause of fire in the crops standing in the fields. There has been no loss of life, peace and order is maintained at the spot. The villagers told that about 50 bighas of wheat crop has been destroyed by burning.
