Two more petrol bomb attacks in Shillong

Shillong, 02 May (HS): Two more petrol bomb attacks were reported in Meghalaya's capital Shillong on Thursday. According to reports, the latest attacks took place this morning, in which petrol bombs were hurled at the heavily guarded Shillong Sadar Police Station and Rinja Police Station.

Police stations, government property and vehicles have been targeted in five separate incidents involving petrol bombs in the last few days.

No culprit behind these attacks has been identified or arrested.

Prior to this incident, a petrol bomb attack was carried out targeting the Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation (MGCC) office in Kench Trace. The parked vehicles narrowly escaped the petrol bomb and the alert night watchmen immediately extinguished the fire.

However, the motive behind these attacks is not clear. Some police sources suspect a link to the arrest of student union members in connection with the murders of three non-tribal labourers.

In view of these increasing attacks, the Meghalaya government has directed all department heads to increase security of government offices and vehicles.
