Hooghly, 20 February (HS): The police of Uttarpara police station have arrested eight-year-old Snehanshu's mother Shanta Sharma and her friend Iffat Parveen in connection with the brutal murder of eight-year-old Snehanshu Sharma which occured Friday evening in Kanaipur of Konnagar under Uttarpara police station of Hooghly district.

Chandannagar Police Commissionerate''s DCP (Serampore) Arnab Biswas held a press conference at Uttarpara police station on Tuesday evening in revealed the arrests. The DCP said that Iffat Parveen has been arrested from Watganj police station area. The Police said that Snehanshu's mother Shanta Sharma and Iffat Parveen were friends before marriage.

The accused have been arrested on the basis of investigation by the forensic team, CCTV footage of the area and information received from witnesses.

The he blood soaked body of Snehanshu was found at his residence in English Road area of Kanaipur on Friday. Snehanshu had serious injuries on his head and many injury marks on various parts of his body. The brutal murder of Snehanshu had become a topic of discussion in the entire state.
