New Delhi, 30 December (H.S.): National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) Director Dr. G. Aghila said on Monday that the Global Alumni Meet (GAM)-2025 will be held in Chennai on January 4.

Dr. Aghila said in a statement that Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran will be the chief guest and Tamil Nadu Information Technology and Digital Services Minister Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan will be the guest of honour at GAM-2025. Gopi Kallayil, Chief Business Strategist for AI at Google will deliver the keynote address at the event. Chandrayaan 3 Project Director Dr. P Veeramuthuvel, Tata Steels Managing Director, CEO TV Narendran will be the guests of honour.

This important event is being led by RECAL, the official alumni association of the institute. The gathering will unite NIT Trichy alumni from across the globe to celebrate the rich legacy of REC/NIT Trichy. The last edition of GAM was held in 2020. Boasting a dynamic network of over 48,000 alumni, including 930 CEOs and 1,300 founders, NIT Trichy is a powerhouse of talent and innovation.

NIT Trichy will unveil its vision for a 20-acre Research and Innovation Hub at GAM 2025, a significant step in its mission to promote entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary research. The facility will focus on emerging domains such as agritech, fintech, spacetech, greentech, quantum computing and AI/ML. The hub will involve an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore. It aims to foster innovation in tier-2 cities.

NIT Trichy Director Dr. Aghila said the Research and Innovation Hub will provide a formal platform for alumni-student mentorship, industry-led projects and a thriving startup ecosystem. It is a step towards enhancing research and nurturing entrepreneurial talent. RECAL Chairman K. Mahalingam said our vast and successful alumni network is a repository of mentorship, funding and innovation. GAM 2025 underlines our collective commitment to support our alma mater.
