New Delhi, 2 January (H.S.) : The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on the petition seeking quashing of the case registered against Swami Prasad Maurya in the case of controversial remarks made on Ramcharitmanas. The court will hear Swami Prasad Maurya's petition after a week.
On January 25, 2024, the Supreme Court had imposed an interim stay on any preventive action in the case registered against Maurya for his controversial remarks on Ramcharitmanas.
A criminal case has been registered against Maurya in Pratapgarh, UP. Maurya has demanded quashing of the criminal case in his petition. During the hearing, the court had said that the controversial remarks on Ramcharitmanas could be his own opinion.
