New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, the flagship program of the Government of India for persons with disabilities, has completed nine years on Tuesday.

This initiative, launched in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, has brought about a revolutionary change in the lives of persons with disabilities. Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda took to social media to congratulate and honour the completion of this milestone. He called the scheme a remarkable initiative that has created a more compassionate and inclusive society for the disabled community.

The focus on creating an accessible environment has led to significant improvements in infrastructure, transport services, and public places for persons with disabilities. Moreover, there has been an increase in awareness about their rights and needs.

Prime Minister Modi's visionary leadership and holistic approach towards development have ensured that schemes like Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan provide equal opportunities and dignity to lakhs of Divyangjans.

The government has made over 90 airports, 700 railway stations, and 1700 offices accessible for persons with disabilities. Additionally, over two lakh Divyangjans have been provided with skill training, and there has been a significant increase in government expenditure on their welfare in the last decade.

This milestone is a testament to the government's commitment to creating an inclusive society and providing equal opportunities for all.
