Jalpaiguri, 26 December (HS): A 16-year-old boy was injured while making a video of a python after catching it in Charer Bari area of Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district on Thursday morning. The injured youth's name is Pradeep Mandal. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

As per information, a python entered a house in Charer Bari area of Maynaguri on Thursday morning. Hearing it, 16-year-old Pradeep reached that house. However, by then members of environmental organizations had also reached there. A plan was being made to catch the python. But in the meantime Pradeep tried to catch the python and make a video with it. During this time the python bit him. Somehow the python was caught in by the environmentalists and Pradeep was sent to the hospital. Nandu Roy, secretary of the Environment Lovers Organization of Maynaguri, said, Many people have died of snakebite while catching snakes without training and filming videos for YouTube. Today also the situation was almost the same. We have caught the python and handed it over to the forest department.
