Bhubaneswar, 23 December (H.S.): More than 40 youth from Odisha, who were enticed to the Maldives with promises of lucrative jobs at a private company, have appealed for assistance to ensure their safe return home.

In a video shared online, the workers claimed that their employer, Renaatus, has withheld their salaries and subjected them to harsh conditions in a labour camp.

The stranded youths disclosed that Kishore Barik from Banapur facilitated the migration of 45 individuals from Odisha to the Maldives. Each person reportedly paid ₹40,000 for flight expenses.

“Despite working for four to five months, we have received our full salary only once. If we voice our concerns, the company threatens us,” one youth told .

He also mentioned that the sarpanch of his village advised them to share their situation through a video on social media. The sarpanch assured them that he would file a complaint with the labour commission office within a few days.
