Bishnupur (Manipur), 22 December (HS): Search operations and regional dominance operations were carried out by security forces in the hilly and valley areas of Manipur. During this, a large quantity of explosives and weapons were recovered from Dampi hill range between Minjang village and Wathalambi area of Bishnupur district.
Security forces seized a large quantity of weapons during the search. These include, one 51 mortar, one 7.62 SLR rifle with magazine, two modified sniper 7.62 rifles with empty magazines, one modified grenade launcher, two single barrel guns, four IEDs (weighing about 7 kg), three 36 hand grenades without detonators, one misfired 51 mortar bomb, one battery, flexible wire about 10 meters long, two live 7.62 ammunition rounds, two live rounds of single barrel gun, two 51 mortar fired cases, nine anti-riot shells, five empty .303 rifle cases, five empty 7.62 mm cases, one wireless handheld set (Baofeng), one bulletproof jacket, one camouflage jungle boot, one gum boot and two BP iron plates.
The operation was carried out by security forces as part of the crackdown against terrorists and illegal activities.
