New Delhi, 06 November (HS): The last rites of folk singer Sharda Sinha, famous as Bihar Kokila and decorated with Padma Bhushan, will be held in Patna. Her body will be sent to the capital of Bihar by plane from Delhi's Palam Airport.
Sharda Sinha breathed her last at 9:20 pm on Tuesday at the age of 72 at AIIMS. She was suffering from blood cancer for six years. On October 26, she was admitted to the Medical Oncology Ward of Cancer Center in AIIMS after her health deteriorated. It has been told that Sharda Sinha's relatives and loved ones will be able to see her body after 12 noon in Patna. Her last rites will be performed with full respect on Thursday.
Born in Hulas village of Supaul district of Bihar, Sharda Sinha, a famous singer of Indian folk music, established new dimensions with her melodious songs. Many personalities including President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah condoled the death of Sharda Sinha. It is noteworthy that Sharda Sinha is known for her significant contribution to Maithili and Bhojpuri music.
