Guwahati, 29 November (HS): Guwahati's Basishta police conducted a raid in the area and arrested a peddler with heroin. Police said on Friday that based on information received from a reliable source, a naka checking drive was conducted on the Basishta flyover near the BJP office in the Basishta police station area. During the drive, an Alto K10 vehicle (AS-01QC-4643) was stopped. During the search, heroin was recovered from the car. After which the driver was arrested. The arrested peddler has been identified as Taibur Rahman (27, Barpeta). The seized vehicle was being used to transport and distribute illegal drugs. On thorough search, suspected heroin was recovered from the accused in two soap boxes hidden in his pant pocket. Whose total weight is 20.91 grams. All necessary legal procedures pertaining to search and seizure were carefully followed in compliance with the NDPS Act. The recovered items were seized and the accused has been taken into custody. Appropriate legal action has been initiated against the apprehended person.
