Guwahati, 15 November (HS): Police Assistant Sub Inspector Khurshid Ali was arrested red handed by the Anti-Corruption Squad today while taking a bribe. According to the information given by the Directorate, a complaint was received by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam. It was alleged that Assistant Sub Inspector Khurshid Ali of Abdullahpur Patrol Outpost, PS Lala, District Hailakandi had demanded a bribe of five thousand rupees from the complainant instead of giving relief in a criminal case.

On not being ready to give the bribe, the complainant approached this Directorate to take necessary legal action against the above-mentioned public servant. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Friday near Abdullahpur Patrol Outpost by a team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

ASI Khurshid Ali was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of five thousand seven hundred rupees demanded from the complainant. The bribe amount has been recovered from his possession and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.

After finding sufficient evidence against the accused public servant, he was arrested by the team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

In this regard, a case was registered at ACB Police Station under Section 7(A) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018) on 15/11/2024 as ACB PS Case No. 81/2024. Necessary legal follow-up action is underway.
