Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo provided crucial updates on the progress of electricity restoration efforts in the districts affected by Cyclone Dana, which severely impacted the power infrastructure in Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur.
Following the government’s directive, DISCOMs swiftly deployed manpower and resources to start restoration work soon after the cyclone’s devastation. As of 2 p.m. on Friday, nearly one million consumers are being reconnected, with more than 90% of the affected areas expected to have power restored by tonight.
The Deputy CM shared that out of 106 damaged 33kV feeders, 72 have been restored. Similarly, 116 of the affected 201 primary substations have been brought back online, while work continues on the remaining. Out of 909 affected 11kV feeders, 504 are operational again, and 39,903 of the 80,135 damaged distribution transformers have been restored.
So far, over 1.14 million consumers have had their power supply reconnected. Restoration is being conducted on a war footing, aiming to ensure that electricity services are quickly reinstated across the cyclone-affected districts.
The government continues to monitor and coordinate efforts, striving to bring relief to impacted citizens as efficiently as possible.
