Ahmedabad, 23 Oct (HS): Loco trial for the

Automatic Train Protection (ATP) ‘Kawach’ system’s Version 4.0 was successfully

conducted on the Wadodara-Ahmedabad section of 96 Kms. Other tests are being

carried out to prevent the remaining issues.

The PRO of the Western Railway Vinit Abhishek

informed the media that the trial test on the 201 Km section in the Virar-Surat-Wadodara

section of the 336 Km stretch has been completed and the work on the remaining portion

is in progress. Loco trial on 172 Km stretch out of the 303 Km Wadodara-Ratlam-Nagda

section (non-automatic signaling section) has been completed. The work on

laying fiber cable and raising towers in the final stretch of 54 Km Mumbai

Central-Virar route is in progress.. Western Railway has undertaken

installation of the Kawach system for 789 Km covering 90 Loco. Trials for 470

Km have been completed. Out of 90 locomotives 60 are equipped with the Kawach

system.

Kawach is a system that monitors speed of

the train and provides real-time feedback. The system helps the loco pilots to

exercise complete control over the train and prevent accidents.
