New Delhi, October 17 (HS): Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University's 19th annual sports festival is starting from October 18 at Dwarka Campus in New Delhi. Youth Affairs and Sports, Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate this sports festival. Olympic bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat will also be present at the opening ceremony. The three-day sports festival will conclude on October 20.
University Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahesh Verma will preside over the program. According to Prof. Manpreet Kaur Kang, Director of the University's Student Welfare Directorate, apart from both the campuses, about 10 thousand students from about 75 affiliated colleges are actively participating in this sports festival. He said that about three dozen sports events will be organized in this three-day sports festival. 'Judo' is being included in this sports festival for the first time. Almost all the competitions will be for both men and women. This is a big step by the university towards women equality and empowerment.
