New Delhi, October 17 (HS): Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and party's National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra greeted the countrymen on Valmiki Jayanti on Thursday and paid their respects to them.

Kharge said in an X post that best wishes to the countrymen on the birth anniversary of Adi Kavi Maharishi Valmiki, the author of the great religious text Ramayana.

The works of Maharishi Valmiki, the messenger of truth, restraint, courage, affection, harmony, equality and harmony, inspire us to move forward on the path of penance, sacrifice, love and duty and teach us to stand in favor of social justice and the downtrodden.
