Guwahati, 1 October (HS): Assam's Women and Child Development Minister Ajanta Neog has said that in the last three years, about 10,000 model Anganwadi centers have been constructed in the state by the Women and Child Development Department at a cost of about ₹2,500 crore. Assam is the only state where Anganwadi workers will retire at the age of 60. Anganwadi workers will get a lump sum assistance of ₹4 lakh and assistants will get ₹3 lakh on retirement.

Minister Ajanta Neog said that in the meantime measures have been taken to provide Mobile phones to Anganwadi workers. The minister mentioned the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in Assam in the last three years as well as the vaccination of children.

Minister Ajanta Neog was addressing the closing ceremony of the 7th National Nutrition Month at Samanvay Maidan in Golaghat on Tuesday. During this, Labor Minister Sanjay Kisan and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa were also present with her.

On this occasion, Labour Minister Sanjay Kisan said that every tea garden worker will get a bonus of 20 percent before the Puja. The minister said that no management can deduct any money from the workers. If anyone does this with the workers, action will be taken against him. Anganwadi workers, assistants and other officials of the department were also present in the program.
