Purulia, 15 February (H.S.):

Panic spread across the Junglemahal region after posters bearing the name of Maoists were recovered in several areas, raising serious security concerns ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The posters, written in red ink on white paper, have heightened tension among locals and prompted intensified police vigilance.

As per information, several posters bearing the name Maoist were pasted on the walls of the local Trinamool Congress party office and Yajpur Primary School in the Kumda area under Bandowan police station area early Sunday morning. Local residents noticed these posters in the morning and immediately informed the police. On information, the police arrived at the scene and removed and confiscated all the posters.

The police have seized the posters and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to determine who posted these posters in the name of the Maoist organization and for what purpose. Bandowan police station is investigating the matter from all angles.

These posters name a total of eight people, including Trinamool Congress's Kumda area president, Bhavatosh Das. The posters warn them that they will face a hearing in a people's court. Serious allegations include corruption in panchayat projects and accepting money in the name of providing jobs.

Earlier, on Republic Day, Maoist posters were found in various areas of Bankura district. On Monday morning, similar posters were found on tree trunks and bus stop walls in the Taldangra and Onda police station areas. These posters allegedly paid tribute to the slain Maoist leader Hidma.
