Banda, 18 Oct (HS): After a brief skirmish in adjacent Lalitpur district, police apprehended three individuals suspected of plundering a shopkeeper, authorities said on Wednesday. During the operation, the accused opened fire on the police squad, who returned fire. According to authorities, the trio was shot in the leg in retaliatory firings and was transported to the hospital for treatment. They were on the run, according to police, after stealing money from a merchant earlier in the week.

The culprits have been identified as Dinesh Kushwaha, Narednra Kushwaha, and Preetam Kushwaha, according to the SP, and Rs 4.21 lakh has been confiscated from their possession. According to the SP, they confessed to stealing money from a trader in the city on October 13 and were on the run. The accused were sent to jail on Wednesday after a medical examination, the prosecutor added.
