Chandigarh, 04 August (H.S.): Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted two alleged terror modules operating with the support of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and arrested nine suspects, including four juveniles. Police recovered three illegal pistols, nine live cartridges and four bottles filled with petrol, which were allegedly intended to be used in bomb-like incendiary attacks.Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X that the preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with ISI handlers based abroad and were working on their instructions. According to the police, the suspects were being prepared for terrorist activities and had allegedly been assigned tasks including reconnaissance of security establishments, arranging illegal weapons and carrying out activities aimed at disturbing peace and law and order in Punjab.The investigation also revealed that the accused had allegedly installed CCTV cameras near railway tracks to monitor movement and sensitive activities. The footage recorded through these cameras was allegedly being sent to ISI handlers based abroad. Separate FIRs have been registered at Mohkampura, Airport and C-Division police stations in Amritsar.About a month ago, a CCTV camera was found mounted on an OHE (Overhead Electrification) pole along the Amritsar-Delhi railway track. A solar panel had also been installed to provide power to the camera. During the investigation, police recovered a SIM card from the camera’s SIM slot. The SIM was registered in the name of a person identified as Gurdev, following which he was arrested.Police are now conducting a detailed investigation into the entire network and working to identify other members allegedly connected to the modules. Investigators are also examining the network’s links, funding sources and any financial assistance allegedly received from abroad.Police are further investigating whether the arrested suspects were involved in any other terror conspiracy or criminal incident. Amritsar Commissionerate Police said that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to threaten the security of the state.
