Bhubaneswar, 04 August (H.S.): The Odisha government has directed all departments to prioritise flood relief and compensation following a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Tuesday.

Emphasising timely assistance, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out and called for close coordination among departments to expedite the delivery of financial aid and essential support to affected families.

The meeting reviewed post-flood challenges and stressed swift restoration measures, including repairing breaches, draining waterlogged areas, and addressing healthcare and fodder needs.

Apart from flood management, discussions were also held on tackling substance abuse and cybercrime, with departments asked to strengthen awareness campaigns and implement coordinated action plans.

District-specific concerns were also reviewed, with the Gajapati Collector highlighting key issues. The Chief Secretary directed immediate action to resolve them.

Meanwhile, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said damage assessment has already begun in areas where floodwaters have receded. Officials from the Revenue and Agriculture departments are evaluating losses across the state.

As per the government’s relief package, families whose houses are fully damaged will receive up to ₹1.20 lakh, while those with partially damaged kutcha houses will get ₹4,000 and households with damaged huts ₹8,000.
