
Hooghly, 04 August(HS): The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a fugitive accused in connection with a criminal case registered at Singhaul Police Station in Begusarai district of Bihar from Dankuni Railway Station.
According to police sources, the Howrah GRP Control received information through the office of the Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Eastern Railway, Kolkata, that a named accused in a criminal case registered at Singhaul Police Station was attempting to escape by train to avoid arrest.
The accused was identified as Dhiraj Kumar Singh alias Master Saheb, son of Jitendra Kumar Sharma. Acting on the information, a special team from Belur GRP Police Station launched an operation and began checking several trains.
During the search operation late on Monday night, the accused was traced and arrested from Dankuni Railway Station.
Police said that a team from Begusarai Police reached Howrah on Tuesday. After completing the necessary legal formalities and obtaining a transit remand from a Howrah court, the accused was taken into custody and the Bihar Police team left for Begusarai for further investigation and legal proceedings.
According to the GRP, the investigation into the case registered at Singhaul Police Station will now be continued by the Bihar Police.
