Assam Health Minister Inspecting Under-Construction Tamulpur Medical College on Tuesday.


Tamulpur (Assam), 04 August (HS): Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal on Tuesday inspected the under-construction Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital along with Tamulpur's Guardian Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. Spread across nearly 170 bighas of land, the upcoming medical college is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region.

During the visit, the ministers toured the campus and later attended a review meeting. Addressing reporters, Singhal said the project reflects the Assam government's vision of building a self-reliant, progressive and secure state under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Health Minister said only around 10% of the construction work remains and is expected to be completed within the next four months. He announced that the Outpatient Department (OPD) services are likely to begin after the remaining work is completed. He further stated that academic activities at the medical college are expected to commence next year after receiving the necessary approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Several dignitaries accompanied the ministers during the inspection, including Goreswar MLA Victor Kumar Das, BTC Deputy Chief Bijit Gaura Narzary, Executive Member Lakkhi Das, senior BJP leader Somnath Basumatary, Tamulpur Medical College Principal Dr. Bijit Kumar Duwara, District Commissioner Simi Karan, Senior Superintendent of Police Suman Chakraborty, along with officials, party leaders and local residents, according to an official press release.
