SIVASAGAR (Assam), 04 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited flood-affected areas in Sivasagar district to assess the ground situation, review relief operations and reassure residents of continued government assistance.

Accompanied by Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Bimal Bora and Sushanta Borgohain, along with Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, the Chief Minister interacted with flood-affected families and reviewed the progress of relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During a programme at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute in Sivasagar, Sarma held discussions with residents to understand the impact of the floods and the challenges faced by affected communities. The meeting also focused on speeding up damage assessment and strengthening relief measures to ensure timely support.

The Chief Minister listened to grievances raised by flood victims and stressed that all eligible beneficiaries should receive government assistance without unnecessary delays. Relief cheques were also distributed to affected residents during the event.

Reaffirming the state government's commitment, Sarma said the priority is to provide immediate relief to flood-hit families while conducting comprehensive assessments of losses for further rehabilitation and financial assistance. He noted that the government has already announced interim financial aid for affected families in flood-hit districts, including Sivasagar.----------
