Guwahati, 14 August (HS): The Special Task Force (STF) of Guwahati has seized around 10 kg of heroin, valued at approximately ₹88 crore in the international market, from a flat in the Chachal area of the Guwahati city and arrested a suspected drug trafficker from Punjab.

The operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence under the leadership of STF officer Kalyan Pathak. The accused, identified as Hardeep Singh, was staying at Om Residency in Chachal.

According to the police, the heroin was recovered from a red bag kept inside an almirah in the flat. Hardeep Singh is suspected to be a notorious drug trafficker from Punjab.

The STF has launched further investigation to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the drug trafficking network.----------
