Railway Board Recommends Premature Retirement of Five Group 'A' Officers in Public Interest

New Delhi, 01 August (H.S.): The Railway Board's Review Committees have recommended the premature retirement of five Group 'A' officers of Indian Railways in the public interest. The action has been taken under Rule 1802(a) of Volume II of the Indian Railway Establishment Code, which is equivalent to Fundamental Rule 56(j).

According to the Ministry of Railways, the officers recommended for premature retirement include two Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) officers of the Indian Railway Health Service (IRHS), one Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) from Northern Railway, one officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) from Northern Railway, and one Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) from Western Railway.

The Ministry stated that the Review Committees carried out a comprehensive assessment of the service records of the concerned officers in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The evaluation included scrutiny of their Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs), integrity records, vigilance inputs, disciplinary history, and other service-related records. After considering all relevant aspects, the committees unanimously recommended their premature retirement in the public interest.

The Ministry of Railways said that Indian Railways follows a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, lack of integrity, and inefficiency. It emphasised that there will be no compromise on honesty, discipline, and accountability in public service, and that such action under the provisions of the Indian Railway Establishment Code is intended to uphold these core values.
