Cachar (Assam), 28 July (HS): Three persons were apprehended after police seized a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances during a naka checking operation at Ujan Tarapur under Banskandi Outpost on NH-37 in Assam's Cachar district.

According to police officials on Monday, acting on specific intelligence about the illegal transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS), a naka was set up at Ujan Tarapur. During the operation, an Alto K10 car (Registration No. AS-11M-6105), travelling from Banskandi towards Pailapool, was intercepted and searched in the presence of independent witnesses under videography.

During the search, police recovered 8,000 Yaba tablets weighing approximately 850 grams, four packets of suspected heroin weighing 93.3 grams, three mobile phones and the vehicle used for transporting the contraband.

The seized substances tested positive for Yaba tablets and heroin using a drug detection kit. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and destination of the narcotics.-----------
