New Delhi, 24 July (H.S.): The Patiala House Court in Delhi on Friday extended the judicial custody of three accused in the Parliament security breach case till August 21. Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal passed the order, and the matter will be heard next on August 21.

One of the accused, Sagar Sharma, was granted 30 days of interim bail by the court on July 17 to attend the last rites of his father following his death.

On May 22, the Delhi Police filed the fourth supplementary charge sheet in the case, running into nearly 14,000 pages.

Earlier, on March 13, the Delhi High Court modified the bail conditions of accused Neelam Azad, allowing her to stay in her home district Jind in Haryana. The court directed her to report to the concerned investigating officer on the 15th of every month as part of the revised bail conditions.

The Delhi High Court had granted bail to two accused, Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat, on July 2, 2025. The Delhi Police had earlier filed a supplementary charge sheet in the case on July 15, 2024.

The police have invoked several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 186, 353, 153, 452, 201, 34 and 120B, along with Sections 13, 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the accused.

The first charge sheet in the case was filed by the Delhi Police on June 7, 2024, running into around 1,000 pages. The accused booked under UAPA provisions include Manoranjan D, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, Mahesh Kumawat, Sagar Sharma and Neelam Azad.

The Parliament security breach took place on December 13, 2023, when two accused persons jumped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber. Shortly afterwards, one of them moved across the desks, removed an item from his shoes and released coloured smoke inside the House, triggering panic among lawmakers.

Amid the chaos and smoke, some Members of Parliament caught hold of the two individuals and restrained them. Parliament security personnel later took both accused into custody. Two other individuals were also detained outside Parliament for allegedly raising slogans in connection with the incident.

The case remains under investigation, with authorities examining the alleged conspiracy and roles of all individuals involved.
