Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance of introducing a law to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases, describing the proposal as hollow. He alleged that if the investigating agency fails to present sufficient evidence before the courts, the creation of fast-track courts would serve little purpose.

In a statement issued on Friday, Kejriwal said that while the Prime Minister had spoken about setting up fast-track courts for the speedy trial of paper leak cases, reports had emerged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had informed the court that it had not found sufficient evidence against Sanjeev Mukhia in the NEET paper leak case.

He questioned that if Sanjeev Mukhia was not the alleged mastermind, then who was the real mastermind behind the paper leak. He further asked that if there was no mastermind, how such a large-scale paper leak could have taken place.

Kejriwal alleged that if government investigating agencies fail to place credible evidence before the courts, even fast-track courts would not be effective. He said that if the government's intentions were sincere, it would conduct a strong investigation and ensure stringent punishment for those accused in the paper leak cases.

He said that students across the country had been adversely affected by repeated paper leak incidents and that the government should take concrete measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Kejriwal further asserted that merely announcing the establishment of fast-track courts would not solve the problem unless the investigation and prosecution processes were made effective.

He added that the government must ensure transparency in competitive examinations and take strict action against those responsible so that the confidence of candidates in the examination system is restored.
