Birbhum, 23 July (H.S.): A 21-year-old nurse was found hanging inside a private hospital in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Thursday morning, triggering tension on the hospital premises. The deceased's family allegedly vandalised parts of the hospital following the incident. The police have launched an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem.

The deceased has been identified as Anushree Mal (21). According to the police, she reported for her night shift at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, hospital staff became suspicious after the door of Cabin No. 3 remained locked for an unusually long time. After forcing the door open, they found Anushree hanging inside the room and immediately informed the police.

Siuri police have registered a case of unnatural death and begun an investigation. Following the incident, angry relatives allegedly damaged hospital property and confronted staff members before police arrived and brought the situation under control.

A CCTV recording from the hospital has also surfaced, showing Anushree walking through the corridor and entering the room where her body was later recovered. Investigators are examining whether anyone else entered the room before the incident.

The police are probing all possible angles, including suicide and homicide. Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances leading to her death and whether any foul play was involved. The post-mortem report is expected to provide further clarity.
