
Bhubaneswar, 14 July (H.S.) : Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Tuesday urged the public not to panic over the recent COVID-19 situation, assuring that the state government is closely monitoring developments and has taken all necessary precautionary measures.
Speaking to reporters after a high-level review meeting on COVID-19 preparedness, the Minister said the government is keeping a close watch on the evolving situation and has already alerted districts bordering neighbouring states to strengthen surveillance and preparedness.
We appeal to people not to panic over COVID-19. The government is fully alert and monitoring the situation continuously, Mahaling said.
The Minister further stated that the Odisha Government would implement any additional advisories or guidelines issued by the Central Government in the coming days to ensure effective management of the situation.
With the annual Rath Yatra set to witness lakhs of devotees in Puri, Mahaling said elaborate healthcare arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
He informed that nearly 200 doctors have been deployed for the festival, supported by an adequate number of paramedical personnel. Critical care facilities, including ICUs, along with sufficient stocks of medicines and emergency medical infrastructure, have also been arranged to handle any health-related emergencies during the festivities.
The Minister reiterated that the state health machinery remains on high alert and urged the public to remain vigilant while following health advisories, assuring that the government is fully prepared to respond to any emerging situation.
