Odisha Governor Interacts with 2023 Batch OAS Probationers

Bhubaneswar, 14 July (H.S.) : Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Tuesday interacted with the 2023 batch of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) probationers at Abhishek Hall in Lok Seva Bhavan, urging them to acquire in-depth knowledge of Central and State Government welfare schemes and serve as an effective bridge between the government and citizens.

Addressing the probationers, the Governor emphasized that civil servants must have a clear understanding of grassroots realities to ensure the effective implementation of welfare programmes and the inclusion of all eligible beneficiaries. He said that informed and responsive officers play a crucial role in strengthening public service delivery.

During the interaction, Dr. Kambhampati advised the probationers to familiarize themselves with flagship schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. He also encouraged them to enroll themselves in various social security schemes and actively promote public awareness about these initiatives.

Highlighting the prevailing global economic challenges, the Governor referred to geopolitical tensions in West Asia and India's dependence on crude oil imports, noting their impact on the country's foreign exchange reserves. He called for behavioural changes at the individual level, encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles in place of petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to reduce fuel dependency.

Linking clean mobility with renewable energy, Dr. Kambhampati underscored the significance of the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which promotes rooftop solar installations and supports EV charging infrastructure. He also informed the probationers that Lok Seva Bhavan is progressing towards obtaining Green Certification, reflecting the government's commitment to sustainable infrastructure.

Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor said India successfully transformed challenges into opportunities through self-reliance, innovation and digital transformation. He further advised citizens to adopt prudent spending habits by reducing unnecessary expenditure on gold purchases, foreign travel and excessive consumption of edible oils, which would help ease pressure on the country's foreign exchange reserves.

Earlier, Dr. Monalisa Lenka, Deputy Director General of the Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, welcomed the Governor and presented a brief overview of the training programme being conducted for the 2023 batch of OAS probationers.

The interaction focused on strengthening administrative capacity, enhancing awareness of public welfare initiatives and promoting sustainable development practices among Odisha's future civil servants.
